Indonesian Sugar Executive Gunawan Jusuf Has a Strong Sense of Business Value

March 23, 2019

A few years ago, Gunawan Jusuf wrote and published a book entitled “Blue Gold.” Most agree that the book discusses in great detail the relative scarcity and the high value of water as our most important and precious commodity. This makes sense when you consider his job. Since he has been the CEO of the Sugar Group Companies, Gunawan Jusuf has led the drive to generate a tremendous amount of growth for some of the most recognized brands in Indonesia. And one thing is for sure; without a reliable supply of clean, potable water, his job and many others would simply dry up.

Through his business activities, which depend greatly on water, he has come to understand better than most how precious and valuable natural resources can be. Not only is water crucial to the lives of humans everywhere; it is also essential to his and many other businesses and the overall economy. While Gulaku, a commercial refined sugar product, is considered a household name throughout the country, many other products are almost as popular. Gunawan Jusuf not only manages offices, plantations and refineries throughout Indonesia, he has to be sure that every employee, subsidiary company and the various offices and plants all work together.
